What began as Katie and Russ Moncrief’s private canoe outfitting business in 1974 eventually became preserved parkland. After decades of welcoming paddlers, the Moncriefs sold their land to the state in 2012, helping protect the river’s beauty and earning the Wekiva its status as a National Wild & Scenic River.
